Abstract

This study aims to determine the presence or absence of formalin in chicken meatballs sold in Ambon City. The research was conducted at the Animal Product Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Pattimura University. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative with a focus on qualitative formalin content testing to determine the presence of formalin in the meatball samples tested. The variable observed in this study was the qualitative formalin content of meatballs or the presence or absence of formalin in meatballs. The results showed that 5 out of 10 meatball samples tested contained formalin, based on The results of the formalin qualitative test using the KIT Test and the test using turmeric extract. This finding reflects the use of formaldehyde in meatball products that can endanger consumer health
