Abstract

This research aims to analyze the representation of women's struggle against gender stereotypes through the main character in Okky Madasari's Entrok. This novel illustrates the social conditions of Indonesian society that are still thick with the patriarchal system and gender construction that oppresses women. The main character, Marni, symbolizes a woman who persistently fights for her rights and existence amidst cultural pressures and social norms that limit women's roles in the public sphere. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a content analysis method, and is supported by the theory of radical feminism which highlights how gender injustice is rooted in biological differences that are used as the basis for male dominance. The results show that through Marni's narrative and actions, Entrok presents a new paradigm of women who are strong, independent, and refuse to submit to stereotypes. This novel not only voices criticism of the patriarchal system, but also becomes an important medium in building gender awareness and supporting social equality for women
