Islamic Law Analysis of the Equal Distribution of Male and Female Children's Inheritance in Kadubeureum

Inheritance distribution in Islamic law is proportionally determined, with sons entitled to twice the share of daughters. However, in practice, a case of equal inheritance distribution between male and female heirs was found in Kadubeureum Village, Padarincang District. This study aims to examine the inheritance distribution practices in the village, explore the factors behind equal distribution, and analyze them from the perspective of Islamic law. The research uses a qualitative field method through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that some members of the community distribute inheritance equally (1:1) between sons and daughters, motivated by the desire to prevent family disputes, the relatively small amount of inheritance, and family traditions or economic considerations. From the perspective of Islamic law, such equal distribution is permissible as long as all heirs are aware of their respective portions and willingly give their consent (ridha), as supported by the Compilation of Islamic Law
