Abstract

Healthcare Organizational leadership in the U.S has a long history of being controlled by elite executives, leaving out mid-level leadership, who play a critical role in implementing strategy and enhancing patient care. This paper is focused on discussing the leadership problems of mid-level leaders, who lack independence, resources, and appropriate training, and, as a result, cannot utilize their potential to the fullest. In the paper, it has been highlighted that empowerment of mid-level leaders is important by enhancing resource allocation, leadership development programs, and inter-level communication in organizations. These results indicate that the investment in mid-level leadership can help healthcare organizations achieve higher operational efficiency and innovation, with the eventual patient outcome gains
